10th October marks World Mental Health Day
Today, on World Mental Health Day, one of my fabulous clients, Caroline Sutton Hypnotherapy, talks about the impact of social media on our well-being and explores ways to manage it effectively. Here’s what she has to say:
In this digital age, social media has become an integral part of our lives, connecting us with others and providing a platform for self-expression. However, it can also have detrimental effects on our mental health if not used mindfully.
Here are 4 tips to manage your social media usage and prioritise your mental well-being:
- Set boundaries: Allocate specific time slots for social media and stick to them. Avoid mindless scrolling that can lead to comparison or information overload.
- Curate your feed: Follow accounts that inspire and motivate you. Unfollow or mute ones that negatively affect your mental health. Remember, you have control over your online experience.
- Take regular breaks: Step away from social media every now and then. Engage in activities that bring you joy, spend quality time with loved ones, or connect with the natural world.
- Practice self-reflection: Be mindful of your emotional response while using social media. If you notice feelings of anxiety, envy, or low self-esteem, take a moment to reflect and evaluate your online habits.
Let’s use the power of social media to spread awareness about mental health!
