Social media self care tips

Today, on World Mental Health Day, one of my fabulous clients, Caroline Sutton Hypnotherapy, talks about the impact of social media on our well-being and explores ways to manage it effectively. Here’s what she has to say:

In this digital age, social media has become an integral part of our lives, connecting us with others and providing a platform for self-expression. However, it can also have detrimental effects on our mental health if not used mindfully.

  • Set boundaries: Allocate specific time slots for social media and stick to them. Avoid mindless scrolling that can lead to comparison or information overload.

  • Curate your feed: Follow accounts that inspire and motivate you. Unfollow or mute ones that negatively affect your mental health. Remember, you have control over your online experience.

  • Take regular breaks: Step away from social media every now and then. Engage in activities that bring you joy, spend quality time with loved ones, or connect with the natural world.

  • Practice self-reflection: Be mindful of your emotional response while using social media. If you notice feelings of anxiety, envy, or low self-esteem, take a moment to reflect and evaluate your online habits.
